Panta-Rhei – Everything flows. On the 36-meter-long mural, which is exhibited in the Hans Erni Museum in Lucerne, Hans Erni depicts a selection of people, who made, in his opinion, a significant contribution to the creation of the Occident. As a student class, we reacted to this painting by portraying a person in a poster, who in our eyes made a significant contribution to humanity. I portrayed Edwin Hubble, an astronomer and researcher who proved for the first time the expansion of the universe. Using paprika, pepper and salt, I scattered galaxies, stars and celestial bodies, in the analog photography developing space on photographic paper, to achieve a realistic visual representation of space, just like Hubble’s analog photographs through his telescopes. With his funny comparison of the universe with a balloon being blown up in one of his interviews, my poster idea was born.
